150th Open Events

150th Open Events is a short golf blog post that takes a look at the most eagerly awaited golf tournament in 2022.

The run up to this golf tournament has been amazing. There have been so many events in and around the city of St Andrews in the last few months.

The R&A Celebration of Light

Some of the highlights include The R&A Celebration of Light. It was an evening in March that the R&A lit up their famous clubhouse with a light & sound projection. The show highlighted some of the most iconic moments of The Open story. The whole thing was narrated by the famous actor & avid golfer Gerard Butler. This fantastic spectacular was witnessed by thousands of locals, who lined up on the first & eighteenth of the Old Course on a chilly but clear night.

The Big Bag Trail

Another great idea is The Big Bag Trail. This has been brought to you by Callaway and St Andrews Links. Scattered around St Andrews are 10 large sculptures of golf bags. Each one has a different design created by school pupils attending St Leonards & Madras College. Download the App to appreciate fully, the journey that it takes you on around St Andrews. Each bag has a number and when that number is entered into the app you receive an award. The award is a piece of local history in which you learn so much more about the area. It also gets you to walk to places where you have never been.
Discover St Andrews and collect all 10 bags and 13 rewards. An extra bag will appear at the 150th Open Championship.
