New Golf in Scotland

New Golf in Scotland is a short golf blog post that looks at the latest golf developments in the country.

Scotland, as they say, is the home of golf, but it looks like it is also the home of the future game.

Did you know that there are so many new golfing facilities planned for the future?

I have done a little research and the list below includes all of my findings.

New Golf in Scotland
Ury Estate

This is the eagerly awaited Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course just North of Stonehaven. 40 million pounds will be invested into this huge project over an area of 1,600 acres.
The project includes the restoration of the old castle into a modern luxury hotel, lodges to rent and over 250 houses that can be purchased as well as designed.

Coul Links

This project has been accepted and rejected more times than I care to mention. It splits the public into two categories, those that love the idea and those that hate the idea.
Some wish to build a links course through the sand dunes near Dornoch whilst others want to protect Coul Links which is a site of natural importance.

Pitcalzean Mains

The owner of the farm has announced plans to build a world-class golfing facility on his land near Nigg, between Fortrose and Dornoch.
The site will include 18 holes, a driving range, a practice area, a clubhouse and accommodation too.

Castle Stuart

Arnold Palmer Design Company are involved in creating a fantastic tribute course at Castle Stuart. This has been in the pipeline for a while and the pandemic didn’t do it any favours, but it is still due to be built.
This will be a further exciting addition to the Castle Stuart experience. If you haven’t visited here before, then you are missing out.

Trump International

Even though Trump International stirred up a lot of ill feelings among the locals, he is at it again. The second championship course will be named the MacLeod Course.
Not only is this approved, but there is also an OK for a village containing over 500 houses and a shopping & dining precinct.

The Ayrshire

The original plans for this included a 60 million pound investment for an 18-hole course, hotel & holiday homes. This has since been scaled back to just 9 holes, a putting green, a starter’s hut and a reception building.
Ayrshire is already a busy coastline for golf courses. I feel that there may be a few more bumps in the road with this one.

The Angus

Located at Forbes of Kingennie, this is a very highly anticipated project. It will be led by Darren Clarke and backed up with a budget of 55 million, this is going to be a cool golf facility. Rumour has it that planning has been granted.
This will include an 18-hole championship course, the region’s only 5-star hotel and a state-of-the-art golf academy led by Rudy Duran.

Feddinch

St Andrews is the location of the Feddinch and it will sit next to The Duke’s course. Plans have been flying back and forth with this one. It has a very messy history but still promises to be a great facility.
You can find further information about the Feddinch in my earlier golf blog post, click here.

Glasgow Top Golf

This is the new version of when we used to go Ten Pin Bowling. A great family evening out or a blast with friends because of the Golf, food, drinks, and laughs. You will struggle not to enjoy this experience.
A driving range with a difference because of the entertainment value. Check it out for yourself by clicking here.
