What's in my bag?

What’s in my bag? is a short golf blog post looking at the equipment that I use on the golf course.

I have been asked several times recently, What’s in your bag?

So, Who am I to disappoint my readers! Let’s get to it.

I carry (or my Caddy does) fourteen clubs in my bag. Some of which will come as a surprise to many of you.
After playing many years with only twelve, I now have a full set of tools after adding a 3 Wood and a 54° Wedge.

My equipment, as a Golf Professional, has varied over the years, starting with Classic House, Titleist, Nike, Callaway and since 2002 I have played Taylormade.

I will be honest, I love Taylormade equipment. Take a look, below, at what I use at the moment.

What’s in my bag?
Taylormade Sim2 Max D 12° Driver – Fujikura Ventus 5 Stiff 46″ & 58g

The new Taylormade Sim2 Max D is a lovely Driver that sits really well. The view of the top of the head is very inviting. I like to see loft on the clubface because it gives me confidence. If I can’t see the clubface at the address position, then I will never use it on the course.
I also have a good feeling from the shaft. During impact I feel like the ball has stayed on the clubface that little bit longer than some drivers.

Taylormade Rocketballz Stage2 17° HL 3 Wood – Matrix Rocketfuel Reg 60g

In 2013 I was made an ambassador for Tmag and I was given this 3 Wood. The extra loft gives me confidence off the fairway and everyone who knows me will know that I hate the number 3.

Taylormade Rocketballz Stage2 19° 5 Wood – Matrix Rocketfuel Reg 60g

Another gift from Taylormade that I have kept in the bag. I love a 5 Wood.

Taylormade Rocketballz Stage2 22° 4 Rescue – Matrix Rocketfuel Reg 65g

Anyone who knows my game will know that I never carry a 3 iron as I hate the number 3. I tend to play with a low ball flight and I have struggled in the past to hit a good 3 iron.

Taylormade Rocketbladez Tour Irons 4-PW – Dynamic Gold XP R300

From all of the sets that I have owned, I have only ever had 3 good sets of irons. Titleist DCI 962, Taylormade RAC TP & these. I really enjoy playing with these due to the soft feedback that I get at impact. The set that I now play is 4-PW.

Taylormade Milled Grind Wedge 54° SB 11 – Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex

There isn’t a lot to say about these wedges without sounding like a Taylormade salesman. Just buy some, they are great. They have a lovely feel to them and a really sharp look.

Taylormade Milled Grind Wedge 58° LB 09 – Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex

After playing for years with a huge gap between my PW & Lob Wedge, I now play with a PW, 54° & 58° wedges and feel very comfortable.

Taylormade Ghost Spider 33″
I feel good with this putter. Although, to be honest, I haven’t tried any of the later versions of this putter. It may be that a change could come soon.
