Played under match-play conditions over three days—comprising eight foursomes (alternate shot) matches, eight fourball (better ball) matches, and 12 deciding singles matches—it stands as one of the most intense, high-energy events in global sports.

Course Spotlight: Bernardus Golf

Designed by Kyle Phillips, Bernardus Golf features firm run-offs, expansive bunkers, dynamic heathland elements, and treacherous water hazards.
To maximise drama, the championship routing has been customised specifically for match play:

• Hole 6 (Par 3): Played entirely over water to a peninsula green. Although the green visually looks generous, the usable area is only about 10 meters wide. Any pulled or pushed shot in foursomes will immediately hand control to the opposition.
• Hole 15 (Par 3): A classic risk-reward hole late in the match.
  Surrounded by water and protected by sheltered trees, players must gauge the wind while deciding whether to fire at the pin or play safely to the middle.
• Hole 18 (Par 4): Adapted as the closing hole (normally Bernardus' 2nd hole), it presents the toughest test on the course.
  Water guards the left, heavy bunkers sit right, and a small green is flanked by a water hazard and steep collection areas.
