Through my recent experience of staying here for 7 nights with Premier Golf, here is my complete, expert look into the resort experience, the lifestyle, and the four incredible courses waiting for you.

The Vibe & Location: Navarino Waterfront

The W Costa Navarino is situated in Messenia in the southwest Peloponnese, directly on a scenic 450-meter stretch of sandy beach along the Ionian Sea.

Getting There

• Kalamata International Airport (KLX): A convenient 45-minute drive from the resort.
• Athens International Airport (ATH): A fantastic alternative if you want to extend your journey or combine your golf trip with a stay in the capital. The drive is approximately four hours through scenic Greek landscapes on well-maintained motorways.

The resort brings a chic, high-energy beach club aesthetic, styled like a traditional Greek coastal village but infused with contemporary architecture, natural stone, and sleek Mediterranean landscaping.
It is an adults-only environment (welcoming guests aged 12 and above) that perfectly balances relaxation with social energy.

The Accommodations at W

The accommodations here are explicitly designed to bring the outside in, featuring raw natural materials, state-of-the-art tech, and a clean, minimalist design language.

• Deluxe Bay View & Superior Panorama Rooms (40 sq meters): Far from standard, these bright, open-plan spaces feature expansive floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto private terraces. Many of the lower-level layouts offer swim-up access to shared longitudinal pools. The "Spectacular" tier elevates your view, overlooking the central resort gardens and looking straight out to the Ionian Sea.

• W Suites (70-90 sq meters): Designed for travellers wanting extra space and privacy. They offer a separate, beautifully appointed living area, a large bedroom, and an expansive outdoor terrace featuring your own private infinity-edge plunge pool looking out toward the bay.

• Oasis Garden & Oasis Beachfront Villas (130-150 sq meters): The pinnacle of luxury at the W. These multi-bedroom beachfront sanctuaries sit just steps from the sand. They boast private infinity pools, expansive outdoor lounge and dining setups, and curated local artwork throughout.

The dining scene at the W and the surrounding Costa Navarino estate is an exceptional journey through Mediterranean and global flavours.

On-Site at W Costa Navarino

• Platía: A modern take on the traditional Greek village square for artisanal coffee, handmade pastries, and a market-style breakfast.
• Between: The ultimate spot for sunset cocktails, featuring inventive mixology, light raw-bar items, and live DJ sets.
• Parélia: The high-energy beach club venue serving contemporary Greek-Mediterranean coastal cuisine right on the shoreline.

The Dunes Clubhouse

• Flame: Located directly within the Dunes Clubhouse, Flame specialises in expert cuts of locally sourced meat, premium steaks, and fresh ingredients hand-picked from the resort’s organic gardens. Served on cast-iron platters alongside panoramic views of the 18th green, it is an essential stop for a hearty dinner after a day on the links.

Navarino Agora

Just a short stroll or shuttle ride away is Navarino Agora, a bustling open-air marketplace that serves as a curated hub for food, art, and retail. Key dining spots include:

• Barbounaki by Papaioannou: Masterful Greek seafood, fresh catches of the day, and signature mezze.
• Guacana: A refined, high-energy fusion of contemporary Peruvian cuisine and premium sushi.
• Santorre: Authentic, comforting Italian flavours in a relaxed setting.
• Kostarelos: A celebration of artisan Greek dairy, featuring incredible cheeses, charcuterie, and traditional deli creations.

Local Gems in Gialova & Pylos

For a taste of local life, two off-site gems in the nearby historic towns are highly recommended:

• La Cucina (Gialova): Located in the charming seafront village of Gialova (only 3 minutes away), this vibrant Mediterranean eatery is famous for its authentic stone-baked pizzas, fresh handmade pasta, and local seafood served right by the water.

• Koukos (Pylos): Situated in the historic town of Pylos, Koukos is a premier wine restaurant. It offers gourmet Greek dishes—like their signature lobster pasta or slow-cooked Ossobuko—expertly paired with an extensive cellar of local Messinian wines and beautiful sunset views over the bay.

The Golf: 4 Championship Courses Explained

Costa Navarino is Greece’s first true signature golf destination, offering 72 holes of pure championship golf.

1. The Dunes Course

• Designer: Bernhard Langer (with European Golf Design)
• Stats: Par 71 | 6,581 Yards (From the back tees)
• The Vibe: A diverse layout with a distinct links feel. It features wide fairways and large, undulating greens that wind through mature olive groves.
• Signature Hole: Hole 6 (Par 4, 344 yards). An incredible, elevated tee box rising 26 meters above the fairway. It offers a classic risk-and-reward option where long hitters can try to drive the green, while four deep pot bunkers guard the conservative approach.

2. The Bay Course

• Designer: Robert Trent Jones Jr.
• Stats: Par 71 | 6,142 Yards (5,614 meters)
• The Vibe: A scenic masterpiece emphasising strategy and shot-making over raw distance. It meanders through Seaside, Canyon, and Grove landscapes.
• Signature Hole: Hole 17 (Par 4, 328 yards). A dramatic hole running directly along the water's edge of Navarino Bay. Water guards the entire right side, and a blind landing area from the tee makes a par here feel like a birdie.

3. International Olympic Academy Golf Course

• Designer: José María Olazábal
• Stats: Par 72 | 6,961 Yards
• The Vibe: Perched high on the Navarino Hills plateau, this tour-level layout offers 360-degree views of the coastline. It features manicured fairways and lightning-fast green complexes exposed to the plateau winds.
• Signature Hole: Hole 12 (Par 3, 175 yards). Perched right on a cliff edge, playing into the prevailing coastal breeze. The green is surrounded by steep drops and penalty terrain; a precise mid-iron is required to find the putting surface.

4. The Hills Course

• Designer: José María Olazábal
• Stats: Par 72 | 6,868 Yards
• The Vibe: Also on Navarino Hills, this layout guides you through rugged, mountainous terrain. It focuses on precision approach shots into heavily guarded, multi-tiered greens.
• Signature Hole: Hole 5 (Par 3, 144 yards) & Hole 6 (Par 5, 590 yards). The par-3 5th is a beautiful, short carry across a dramatic ravine. It leads directly into the monster par-5 6th, the most difficult hole on the front nine, requiring three perfectly placed shots to avoid deep bunkers and native rocky outcroppings.

Clubhouse Facilities

Each golfing hub on the property features its own architectural standout:

• The Dunes Clubhouse: A spacious, open-air pavilion combining traditional stonework with modern design. It houses a premium pro shop, luxury locker rooms, and the fantastic Flame restaurant overlooking the 18th green.

• The Bay Clubhouse: Built directly into the earth, this award-winning eco-structure features a green roof that blends seamlessly into the hills, offering indoor-outdoor dining with sweeping, panoramic views of the bay below.

• Navarino Hills Clubhouse: Servicing both the International Olympic Academy and Hills courses, this sleek, minimalist hub provides high-end dining, premium rental services, and expansive practice facilities right on the edge of the plateau.

Seamless Logistics: The Shuttle Service

One of the best aspects of a golf holiday at Costa Navarino is how effortlessly the resort operates. The courses are spread across different pockets of the estate: the Dunes is at Navarino Dunes, the Bay is nearby, and the two Olazábal courses sit up at Navarino Hills.

To bridge this, the resort operates a complimentary luxury shuttle service for all resort guests.

• Golf Transfers: Shuttles run at regular, frequent intervals throughout the day directly from the front entrance of the W Costa Navarino. The concierge coordinates your transfer to align perfectly with your tee times, and your clubs can be transferred ahead of you so you can simply arrive and play.
