2023 Resolutions

2023 Resolutions is a short golf blog post that looks at some ideas that you could choose for your New Year’s resolutions.

Yes, it is that time of the year again when we look back on our achievements in 2022 and come up with ideas to improve them.

There are so many parts to the machine that makes up the game of golf; we, ourselves, are the only ones who can maintain those parts.

Some of those parts include equipment, swing, fitness, nutrition, psychology, practice etc. The list seems quite endless when you think about it.

My ideas of what you could do in 2023.

Your Equipment

The right equipment plays an essential role in playing good golf. It may be that you already have great equipment for your game.
It may be the case that you just need to change your grips. Changing your grips can make up to 6 shots difference in a round of golf.
If you play daily, then you should be changing your grips at least twice per year. The average golfer, however, should change their grips at least once per year.

When was the last time that you checked the lofts and the lies of your irons? This is one of the most overlooked areas regarding your equipment.
Answer these questions…
Do I have an inconsistent distance gap between my irons?
Have you noticed that your 7 iron flies higher than your 9 iron?
Are you finding that some clubs go to the right/left more often than others?
If the answer is yes, to any of the questions above, then you need to check your lofts & lies.
It would be advisable to get a club check, similar to a car MOT.

Swing

What was your last golf lesson about? Don’t you remember?
It might be time for a little swing check.
But don’t forget that there are 5 basic areas to check out. Full Swing, Pitching, Chipping, Bunkers & Putting.
Don’t think that you are amazing at any of these areas. Remember, if you are not earning millions of dollars from golf, then you can always improve your game.

Fitness

Christmas is behind you and you can now start losing a few pounds/kilos. Everybody eats too much over the festive period.
It is what you do now that counts. Either at home with a few simple exercises or in a gym with a personal trainer, it’s up to you.

Nutrition

As you have overdone it through Christmas, it may be worth looking at cutting it down a little. Even if it just means cutting down on portion sizes.
Check out some of my other golf blog posts for further information.

Psychology

This generally means gaining more control over your mind. This can be as easy as breathing exercises or learning more about course management.
Check out a few concentration exercises. It doesn’t have to be intensive, just the basics will do to make a difference to your game.

Practice

This is one of those areas that every golfer knows they don’t do enough of. Change this now and reap the benefits later.
Remember that all 5 areas of golf need to be practiced, especially the short game.
Get out now, instead of reading this stupid golf blog post!

Make dreams a reality

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to watch a Professional Tournament in the flesh?
Do you have a bucket list of top courses that you always wanted to play?
Then why not buy a ticket to The Open! Book your tee time now and start ticking things off your bucket list!

What are you waiting for? Start the changes now!
